Spirits & Such – Mob Psycho Microsite

Based on Reigen Arataka’s real website from Mob Psycho season 2 to generate excitement around the title each week leading up to new episodes. We pulled from Y2K era Geocities/Angelfire aesthetics complete with a guestbook. Fans of the show posted some great comments ranging from hilarious to extremely wholesome and cute, rooting on the characters in their trials throughout the season. Reigen is a much-loved character, but the website in the show makes him appear out-of-touch with what’s popular, and it made a hilarious fan activation that was beloved by all who lived through the Y2K golden age of fansites and anime shrines.
I collaborated with a web developer who helped us build out the site, but designed the individual pages and assets within Photoshop. The website has since been taken down, but you can read the feature about this project here on Crunchyroll News!
