Dialogue: Light Within the Shadows – Voices from Our Community and from Within San Quentin
San Quentin SkunkWorks & SF Public Library, 2026
Google Slides & Microsoft PowerPoint

This presentation was created for a community event at the San Francisco Public Library highlighting the experiences of incarcerated people, sharing short stories they had written about their experiences and even an animated short. Our guest speaker was world-renowned artist eL Seed, who painted the twin murals at the SF Orpheum and inside San Quentin, giving SQ residents a window into the vibrant world of San Francisco and citygoers a way of looking back at them and their experience. He spoke about the beauty of public art and the value of sharing art with a community. I feel very lucky that I got to partake in the community painting day and helped to paint a (relatively small) part of the Orpheum mural myself!
